The Rhode Island Farm to School Program
The Rhode Island Farm to School Program is a statewide project designed to bring RI farm products such as fresh fruits, veggies, and Rhody Fresh milk into all RI school districts within the next two years. This is a collaborative effort among members of the RI Farm Bureau, the RIDEM/Division of Agriculture, the RI Departments of Health and Education, Southside Community Land Trust, Farm Fresh RI, Kids First and others. This program, hosted at Kids First, aims to increase the amount of RI farm products that are offered to children in RI schools by developing purchasing relationships between school food service providers and RI producers/farmers and by delivering companion educational programs for staff and students. For more information about Farm to School, for help in getting your district's program started, or to see how you can get involved, please contact Rafi Minkin, the RI Farm to School Coordinator at Kids First.
